General Information

The International Sumer Band Camp (ISBC) is a unique 8 to 9 full days workshop of music teaching and performance on wind and percussion instruments, as an advanced tool for music education. It is also an opportunity for cross regional and religious meetings and friendships through music. Such day camp is unique in Lebanon and the Middle East.

LeBAM was successful in organizing ISBCs since 2009:

  • Beit Mery (August 2009 and 2010)
  • Baskinta (August 2011 and 2012)
  • Notre Dame University – Zouk Mosbeh (August 2013 and 2014)
  • Notre Dame University – Zouk Mosbeh (August 2014 and 2015)
  • Notre Dame University – Zouk Mosbeh (July 2016)

The 2015 ISBC featured a record of about 250 participants. It also featured a record of 24 highly experienced conductors and music teachers, coming from the best music teaching institutions in Lebanon, the USA, Spain, Taiwan, France and Cyprus.

Enrolment: The ISBC encourages the participation of both LeBAM and non-LeBAM music students, teachers and conductors of all ages, coming from very diverse cultural, social, economical, regional and religious backgrounds. The ISBC is also open to Lebanese and non-Lebanese participants; many students in the past came from the neighboring Arab countries: Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Iraq.

Music Students are trained in all forms of music, of varied levels of proficiency (beginners, intermediate and advanced), including a Jazz Big Band, classical and world music performed by concert bands. They are also trained in communications and conflict resolution skills.

Advanced music students and music teachers enrolled in the ISBC are trained in the skills and art of music pedagogy and orchestra conducting.

Concerts: The ISBC is concluded with a series of public free concerts, organized by the various levels of musical proficiency.
